Independence in Nepal

while all eyes—and resources—are on venezuela (microaid will focus on that area when the dust settles), we are moving forward with the new project for another beneficiary family in nepal, who lost their home in the 2016 gorkha earthquake, which destroyed 650,000 homes.
clearing the site and digging the first column foundations.
before anything else, we did the puja (blessing) ceremony, where a priest, with one of the family members, blesses the site, the ground, the tools, and the workers.
our site is a bit below grade so we had to fill the foundation with dirt so the house won’t flood during the rain.
as we started our project, the people who own the lot next to ours started to build, as well.
that's our back hoe doing the fill work, but the neighbor's wall is already built.
microaid likes to take the time to do it right.
thank you for being part of this important work—giving survivors of a disasters a chance to live in a safe comfortable permanent house.
without microaid, they would be out of luck. we stay focused on disaster zones after the world’s attention has moved on.
